It is always an honor to photograph a child.  Life moves so fast that those tender moments of closeness between a parent and a child--or a sweet, mischievous smile--are gone before we realize it.  I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to preserve those times through photographic images.

My interest in photography began when I worked on the yearbook staff in high school.  I attended the University of South Carolina and majored in biology, but continued to take photography classes and increased my skills both behind the lens and in the darkroom.  I earned a master’s degree in marine biology from Florida Institute of Technology...and even then I was able to put my photography experience to work.  I used photography to document larval fish I collected for my thesis project!

It wasn’t until I became a mother in 1999 (and had subjects continuously at my whim) that my life’s passion came into focus.  My wonderful husband made sure my equipment was state-of-the-art, and I made the jump from film to digital photography.  Eighteen months later, Mudpies was born.  My joy continues to be photographing children, and logical extensions of that...pregnancy and families.  I would welcome the opportunity of working with your family to record memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.
